An intense love story unfolds against the backdrop of the Seventies in “Nuovo Olimpo,” Ferzan Ozpetek’s latest film, recently premiered at the Rome Film Festival 2023 and now available on Netflix.
The film follows the story of two twenty-five-year-olds, Pietro (Andrea Di Luigi) and Enea (Damiano Gavino), who coincidentally meet on a film set in Rome, sparking overwhelming love from the very first moment. Immersed in the world of cinema at Nuovo Olimpo, the two embark on a passionate relationship. However, an unexpected event interrupts their journey, bringing an end to their story.
In the subsequent years, Enea becomes a famous director, finding solace alongside Antonio (Alvise Rigo), while Pietro pursues a medical career and marries Giulia (Greta Scarano). Despite the passage of time and the introduction of new relationships, both continue to harbor the hope of reuniting, fueled by the deep love that binds them.
After several television appearances, on November 1, 2023, Alvise Rigo landed on Netflix in Ferzan Özpetek’s film “Nuovo Olimpo.” In the movie, he portrays Antonio, a young homosexual man who falls deeply in love with the director Enea Monti.
